Home Improvement & Curb Appeal Tips

Here are some tips on curb appeal and logical home improvement tips you should consider prior to selling your home:

1. Front of your home. This is the first thing people see when they come upon your house. Create an image of love at first site.
- If you have a dirty looking concrete side walk, pressure wash it. While you are at it, pressure clean the front of the house.
- Add flowers to the front of the house.
- Do some yard work (Trim the trees, cut the lawn, etc)
- Put some pavers around tree roots and add mulch. This is relatively inexpensive and increases curb appeal.
- Paint your front door. This is where people are standing as the realtor is unlocking the door.
- Add a flower pot with flowers at the front door. They will smell these flowers and subconsciously they will be more at peace.
- If the house has a bad paint job, go to Home Depot and buy a few cans. These are inexpensive and can increase your home value substantially.

2. The inside of your home.
- Clean it up. This is obvious, but I must state it.
- Cover those flaws. Everyone has flaws in their homes. Take a little time and at least cover them up.
- Burn some pleasant smelling incense or if you have time before people arrive (also takes a lot of work), put some cookies (cut and slice Pillsbury) in the oven.
- Create well lit areas in the home. The more light the better.
- If your paint in the house is old, consider adding some new paint to the walls.

Putting a monetary value on these tips cannot readily be done. But if you follow at least some of them, you can add as much as $10,000 dollars in value to your home. For spending a weekend or two this is one great way to make some quick money.
